Bowood Carving and Woodworking Club

Welcome to our site!

Bowoodcarvers.co.uk is the official site for the Bowood Carving and Woodworking Club. We cater for carvers of all levels of experience, so whether you know exactly what you are doing and just want to carve with others, or have never carved but want to give it a go, we are here for you! We think of ourselves as a friendly bunch (of men and women), who have in common a love of working with wood. Although carving is the basis of our activities, we also indulge in: cabinet making; chair making; turning; green woodwork; restoration; miniature furniture making and carving; and tool making.

Our club workshop is a Grade 2 listed former coaching stable and we have space for around ten carvers to work at the same time.

For new carvers we can offer project ideas, a selection of tools, your first piece of wood, guidance to get you started and support as you learn. The only requirement of new members, apart from paying your sub, is the ability to use your hands and an interest in the subject (tea/coffee making ability may occasionally be required too!) Your first two hour session is free so that you can decide if carving is for you.

When We Meet

We have two hour sessions on Monday and Tuesday evenings between 7 and 9pm, as well as Saturday mornings between 10am and 12.30pm, and Thursdays between 10am and 4.30pm. The Thursday and Saturday sessions run subject to demand and times can vary.

What it Costs to Join
